Justin Bieber has officially boarded the Kpop fandom train

I wouldn’t necessarily categorize the song he mentioned as Kpop, but he got the point across — he likes a song by a Korean artist.

Justin Bieber, Hailey Baldwin’s fiancee, “just listened to this kpop song last night… so fire”.

It’s still unclear where this video came from, but you can tell it was taken recently because J. Biebs is in his seemingly usual uniform — a Hawaii style shirt, a mustache, and blonde man-bun length hair.

The song JB refers to as “the first k-pop song [hes] ever heard” is called “Instagram” by DEAN. Although Biebs calls the slow jam “kpop”, it’s actually more on the “different R&B” side DEAN openly claims.

DEAN a.k.a. DEANtrbl is an alternative R&B artist from Korea. Even though he is a relatively new artist, he has collaborated with the likes of Anderson .Paak, Eric Bellinger, and Syd from The Internet.

“Instagram” is a long-awaited track, from DEAN’s equally long-awaited sophomore album, 130 mood: RVNG. 130 mood: RVNG is assumed to be a continuation of the 130 mood series which started with DEAN’s first album, 130 mood: TRBL. 130 mood: RVNG is yet to have a set release date so all we have to hold onto is its first single, “Instagram”. The track starts off with a simple guitar melody before dropping the beat. Even though the song is on the slower side when comparing it to other DEAN songs, it still holds a slight familiarity. At least a couple tracks on DEAN’s first album had a similar belated beat drop.

In the comment section of the post (shared by DEAN himself), the reaction of fans was split. On one hand, fans were generally happy Justin Bieber was (sorta) recognizing DEAN. While others were annoyed BTS fans (better known as ARMY) didn’t let JB finish his thoughts before urging him to listen to BTS. This might explain why he didn’t mention DEAN directly. Nonetheless, DEAN is making the right moves and it’s only a matter of time before he blows up in the States.
